Andrew Peters

Andrew Peters is director of music at Second Presbyterian Church in St. Louis and was recently named assistant conductor of The Metropolitan Orchestra of Saint Louis. At Second Presbyterian he conducts choral and orchestral ensembles, directs the handbell choir, plays organ for services, and is artistic director of the church’s Couts Music Series. As an organist, he performs at venues across the United States and has played with the St. Louis Symphony at their concerts in Powell Hall and Carnegie Hall. Peters holds degrees from St. Olaf College and the Cleveland Institute of Music.  In Cleveland he was conductor of the University Singers at Case Western Reserve University. 

Through his work with the Second Church Chorale and Orchestra, Peters has conducted works of Mozart, Handel, Haydn, Schubert, and Vaughan Williams. This season he leads them in a portion of Elgar’s The Apostles and he continues as assistant conductor of the Maryville Symphony. He has studied conducting with Steven Amundson, Dennis Keene, Timothy Mahr, and Robert Scholz and currently, with Allen Carl Larson.
