Andrew Peters is director of music at Second Presbyterian Church in St. Louis and was named assistant conductor of The Metropolitan Orchestra of Saint Louis in 2015. At Second Presbyterian he conducts choral and orchestral ensembles, directs the handbell choir, plays organ for services, and is artistic director of the church’s Couts Music Series. As an organist, he performs at venues across the United States and has played with the St. Louis Symphony at their concerts in Powell Hall and Carnegie Hall. Peters holds degrees from St. Olaf College and the Cleveland Institute of Music. In Cleveland he was conductor of the University Singers at Case Western Reserve University.
Through his work with the Second Church Chorale and Orchestra, Peters has conducted works of Elgar, Mozart, Handel, Haydn, Schubert, Vaughan Williams and more. He has studied conducting with Steven Amundson, Dennis Keene, Allen Carl Larson, Timothy Mahr, and Robert Scholz.
