Cynthia Bowermaster was born and raised in Southern California and received her Bachelor and Master of music degrees in violin performance from the University of Southern California While at USC she was a member of the USC Graduate String Quartet for two years which included a 3 week concert tour of Mexico. Her teachers include Alice Schoenfeld, Eudice Shapiro, and Glenn Dicterow. While a member of the National Repertory Orchestra in Colorado she auditioned for the Honolulu Symphony and won a position in the first violin section. She played there for 11 years. During that time she was a member of the Galliard String Quartet which toured the Hawaiin islands, as well as Guam and American Samoa.
She has lived in St. Louis since 1995 and currently free-lances, performing with The Metropolitan Orchestra, the Illinois Symphony, Bach at the Sem, and Bach Society orchestras. She is very excited to be a part of the newly-formed Metropolitan Orchestra. One of the highlights of her year is performing in Sun Valley, Idaho with the Sun Valley Summer Symphony.
She is also a busy teacher, teaching 5th Grade Orchestra in the Kirkwood School District and maintaining a small private studio. She lives in Kirkwood with her husband and two children.
